Question number one: Where is home???

Let me introduce myself! My hometown is Vancouver, BC, Canada. I have lived on and off near Paris for the past 7 years. I have had so many interesting experiences living in both Vancouver and Paris, and there have been good times and bad. I am planning on using this blog to reminisce on my experiences of being a stranger in both my hometown since I left it, and being a Canadian living in France. Most French people LOVE Canadians, but some old-school French are still wary of foreigners living in their country...I mean, I have an accent when I speak fluent French! Quel horreur! I hope that you will enjoy the stories that will come about from this blog (like the experiences of my poor French-Canadian cat Bandit le Chat and his moves between Vancouver and Paris...or my experiences giving birth to a beautiful baby girl in a French hospital ...and sometimes just feeling homesick and why - such as why oh why did I leave Vancouver before the Olympics????) So please enjoy reading, and post any comments you would like especially if you are an expat living somewhere and can relate to my stories!

This week's question is: Where is home for someone who leaves their native country - is your hometown the one where you grew up or the one that you have adopted? In Vancouver, where I feel like an outsider every time I move back? Or in Paris, where I am friends with other expats, yet it still doesn't feel like home! My friends and I rejoice in nationalistic behaviour, maintaining that each of our culture is the best... so why do we leave our home to live in a foreign country?
